Title: The Honeymoon’s over

Date: 5th November 2007

Magazine: Time

Summary:

Some Indian women are abandoned by their foreign husbands and left in a patriarchal society. In the past they often did not approach the public and government for help for the sake of preserving their family reputation. However, these duped Indian women start to voice their needs and stories.

Reflection and opinion:

In a developing and religious country, women always are at a lower position than men. There is a paucity of chances for females to go to school and speak in front of the public because of their low statuses. Even their marriage, they also sacrifice their marriage for seeking a better life. I have never imagined marrying a man that I have never met. I thought it only happened in ancient times. Wedding, it’s supposed to be a perfect dream of girls. But now there are vast amount of Indian women suffering from their émigré husbands. The worse is, they couldn’t get help from family and society. It’s so ridiculous that those émigré men left their brides behind and declared to divorce without the agreement of wives. Why divorce is a social stigma in Indian and why Indian women want a better life at the cost of marriage? Is it because they can not find another prospective to fulfill their wish? For a girl in a developed country, she does not think her future depends on her husband or boyfriend. And she must not agree to sacrifice her marriage for a better material life. Just like me! It’s because we have chance to be educated and able to make a living by ourselves. What about the Indian women? They don’t have choices. What they can do is staying at home and looking after the children. Improving social status of women is a long fight and what we need to do is support organizations that provide education for women. It’s because only knowledge can change the fate.

Title: Spirited Away

Chihiro, a 10-year old girl in the midst of a move to the suburb with her parents, wanders into a mysterious town. It’s the “other world” with monsters and goals and ruled over by greedy and selfish old hag. Chihiro wants her parents back. She embarks the journey to save her parents.

Chihiro is a slightly willful and spoiled, ordinary girl. She is working in a bathhouse which providing services to monsters and other weird customers. Haku is an awesome boy who helps Chihiro when she’s devastated. He resembles working for the wicked witch Yubaaba. Yubaaba performs magic but no ones where she’s from. Everything in her room is gorgeous and luxurious. Kamjii is a spider man who assists Chihiro to work under Rin. Rin’s a mentor who taking cares of chihiro when chihiro first works at the bathhouse.

This movie is one of my favorite animations. Its plot is fascinating with lots surprises. The film is composed of attractive elements. Like warm, fantasy, love and friendship. Unquestionably the experiences of Chihiro can delight both adults and kids. A couple of scenes may stun the audiences like the god of river visiting bathhouse and it’s a colourless dragon and the train moving on the surface of the sea. The director devises beaucoup of brainchildren and put them into the film. Perhaps we can spot our own funny ideas during watching Spirited Away. The movie provides us a chance to trace back to our innocent childhood. All characters are unique and appealing, even the old hag. To me, that strange and untouched world is a world that full of friendliness. I can roam around this Xanadu. It’s a fresh breeze for me to escape from the hectic school life. Kids need to be grown by overcoming difficulties like Chihiro. We don’t realize that we can soar under the azure heavens without the help of parents until the day we tackle the obstacles successfully and independently.

Someone told me a secret(so called). I felt ridiculous well. I know sometimes secrets prevent lots of troubles and unconvenience. But telling someone a secret is really really really cruel. Because that person may feel uncomefortable after knowing the secret and feel being concealed. Extremely bad
