*** I am Winnie, and you are listening to UNIT radio. In our weather report, we have got a travel advisory for all of you out there starting your evening commute. The blizzard that dumped several feet of snow on the Mid-Atlantic States is making its way toward us as we speak. Some snowfall is expected to begin within the hour, with heavier precipitation by 9:00 p.m. Temperatures are also dropping quickly, so we are expecting a dangerous mix of ice and snow to form this evening. The authorities are advising everyone to stay at home and not drive if they can do so. If you cannot take a bus or a commuter train home, please drive very carefully. Remember that in bad weather, even driving at the speed limit can be quite dangerous. We will keep you updated as conditions develop.
*** The annual company picnic will be held on August 3 this year. It will be from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. We need volunteers on the day of the picnic to take care of the chores and errands that might happen anytime. Sign-up sheets are posted on the bulletin board. If you have any questions about the volunteer duties, simply refer to the sign-up sheet to fine the coordinators. Additionally, I would like to inform you that we will not have Movie Night next month because of the Highland Conference.
***The new recreation center is nearing completion. It is scheduled to be finished on Wednesday, October 6, and it will open to all employees starting the following Tuesday. We hope you will enjoy this new facility. However, in order to use the center, you must fill out the recreational ID card form. After you submit this form to the activities director, your recreational ID card will arrive in one week. In order to have your ID card in time for the opening, the form must be completed by next Monday. Your regular employee ID card cannot be used. Please see the employee website for a copy of the form.

Re: Alternate Freight Route
Date: March 26, 9:20a.m.
I just spoke with United Freight. They said that with oil over US$110 a barrel, they are imposing a 7% surcharge on all deliveries until further notice.
It seems to me we have to discuss alternate freight companies. Other firms are not increasing their prices. I don’t think we have a choice for April, but we should consider which other company might offer a lower price starting in May.
I’d like to meet with you and Henry first to go over what realistic choices we have. We can present our findings and recommendations to the Board of Directors at our next monthly meeting. Please get back to me as soon as possible. Thanks.

Dear Miss Smith,
I am writing in response to your e-mail of January 8. I want to start by saying that I am disappointed to hear that you do not wish to take the position that you have been hired for in our main office. However, though you have not begun to work here yet, you did sign a contract with us for a minimum of two years. The company considers this contract to be active. Thus, I have to inform you that if you do not report to work by February 1, you will be responsible for breaking the contract and the related fees.If you disagree with this decision, the rules for how you can proceed are in the contract. If you need an additional copy. please contract human Resources.
I hope that we can resolve this quickly and amicably. I look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Stanley Ling
