舞團理念

由多年來致力於台灣表演藝術改革的孫梲泰擔任藝術總監。8213肢體舞蹈劇場藉由旅居世界各大洲的經驗,結集並探索各種表演型態在不同動作場域中的可能性。創團理念「開創舞蹈劇場新衝突，將身體作為引爆點，擁抱戲劇、音樂、美術等不同元素的擦撞，從不對稱中尋找出平衡點，碰撞出8213的獨特舞風」。

舞團成立兩年已來即獲的各界的好評，2008年獲文建會專案補助赴世界三大藝術節之一的法國亞維off儂藝術節演出，2006年創團製作三氯乙烷釋放體ch3ccl3更入圍台灣表演藝術界最高榮譽的台新藝術獎年度十大節目。

舞團藝術總監暨編舞者孫梲泰，是位擁有京劇背景以及革命軍人的血統的舞蹈工作者，從基層著手，曾擔任多年職業舞者，獨立編舞家，進而成立舞團。

8213 Physical Dance Theater was founded by Chuo-Tai Sun, who has devoted years toward revolutionizing performance art in Taiwan. Through gathered experiences from traveling and living across four continents this experimental company seeks to explore the possibilities of artistic expression through movement in various settings. 8213 Physical Dance Theater responds to conflicts that arise when dance and drama combine and members use the body to find balance between the two mediums. The company embraces music, visual art, drama and dance as various elements that can be utilized to express multiple concepts.
Productions of 8213 Physical Dance Theater

June 2008 (“Sandwich”) Commissioned by Century Contemporary Dance Company to create a trio in the National Experimental Theater in Taipei, Taiwan.
May 2008 (“La Baguette”) Mr. Sun is invited to be a resident artist at Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris, France to create a feature length piece exploring the idea of miscommunications using dancers from five different countries.
October 2007 (Yongkang Festival) Choreographed two pieces for the experimental dance festival in Taipei, Taiwan.
February 2007 (“Love Suspended”) Choreographed a duet performed at the Pikes Peak Arts Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
October 2006 (“CH3CCL3 Releaser”) Created for the 8th Asia Arts Festival in Taipei, Taiwan. Received the top 10-artist award at the Taishin Arts Award Ceremony for the best performances of the year.
July 2006 (“In and Out”) Created duet for the Taipei Artist Village after being inspired by visiting America.
Introduction:

Director Chuo-Tai Sun established 8213 Physical Dance Theater in June 2006 to provide Taiwanese audiences with work that represents the conflict in Taiwan between traditional Taiwanese values and Western influence in dance. Mr. Sun was born into a long line of Chinese Opera actors and hopes to use his personal history to create a bridge between Asian aesthetics and the aesthetics of performances he has witnessed on his various travels to the West.

In 2006, at the conception of his company, Mr. Sun created “CH3CCl3 Releaser” for the 8th Asia Arts Festival in Taipei, Taiwan. Mr. Sun challenged traditional notions of performance in Taiwan to create a piece that combined both drama and dance. The piece went on to win an award at the prestigious Tiashin Arts Ceremony as one of the top ten performance pieces of the year.

Also in 2006 Mr. Sun completed a residency in Colorado, U.S.A with support from the Taipei Artist Village. Mr. Sun continues to teach and choreograph for numerous local dance companies and studios around Taiwan, such as Wan-Zhu Dance Company, Lin-Long Dance Company, Shui-Yi Dance Company, DiDi Dance Theater etc. Recently, Sun received funding from the Council for Cultural Affairs in Taiwan for a residency at the Cite Internationale de Arts in Paris.
